Snipit

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 9, 2026

Snipit turns landscape gameplay footage into vertical clips. Every part of that — reading your video, detecting on-screen elements, compositing, and rendering the finished clip — happens on your device. There is no Snipit account, no Snipit server, and no way for your footage to reach us. This policy explains exactly what that means.

1. At a glance

2. What we collect

We operate no server and receive nothing about you directly. The one exception is ad measurement through TikTok, and it only happens if you allow tracking: see section 6. Without that permission, Snipit sends nothing about you anywhere. We never receive your contact information or your content.

If you choose to email us for support, you are of course sending us your email address and whatever you write. That is ordinary correspondence that you initiate and control, and we use it only to answer you.

3. Your video and your clips

When you pick a video, Snipit reads it, processes it, and writes the finished vertical clip back out. All of that runs on your device's own processor and graphics hardware.

Your source footage is never copied to any server. Rendered clips are written to a temporary folder on your device and then, at your direction, saved to your Photos library or handed to the iOS share sheet. Once you share a clip to another app, that app's own privacy policy governs what happens to it — that step is your choice and is outside Snipit's control.

4. Photos access

Snipit asks for exactly one Photos permission: add-only access, so it can save a finished clip into your library. iOS shows this prompt the first time a render completes.

Importing a video does not require Photos access. Snipit uses the system photo picker, which runs outside the app and hands over only the single file you selected. Snipit never sees the rest of your library.

5. On-device AI and the model download

Snipit's AI segment feature identifies on-screen elements such as minimaps and health bars so you can reposition them. The analysis runs entirely on your device, using your device's own processor. Frames are never sent anywhere for processing.

The feature needs an AI model on your device. The first time you set up AI segment, you pick a quality level and the app downloads that model's files once. The download is a plain, one-directional file transfer over HTTPS from a public repository. Snipit sends no identifier, no account, and no information about you or your videos with the request — it asks for a file and receives a file.

The downloaded model is stored on your device and used only there. You can delete it at any time from Settings, and you can use Snipit's full editing and export pipeline without ever downloading it.

6. Network activity and ad measurement

Ad measurement (only if you allow tracking). We advertise Snipit on TikTok. To learn whether those ads work, Snipit includes TikTok's Business SDK. After the first-run intro, Snipit shows Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt once. If you tap Allow, the SDK sends TikTok your device's advertising identifier, app events (install, app opens, and in-app purchases), basic device information, and an approximate location derived from your connection, so TikTok can tell us whether an install came from an ad. TikTok's handling of that data is governed by TikTok's Privacy Policy. If you tap Ask App Not to Track, the SDK never starts; the only signal TikTok receives is Apple's anonymous install attribution (SKAdNetwork), which Apple sends without any identifier. You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. The SDK never receives your videos, frames, or clips.

Apart from ad measurement, Snipit makes two kinds of network request, and both only download:

Purchases and subscriptions go through Apple's App Store, which handles the payment and tells the app what you are entitled to. Snipit itself sends nothing in that exchange.

Apart from the TikTok SDK described above, the app contains no code that uploads data, no embedded web browser, and no background reporting. The Privacy Policy and Terms of Use links open in Safari.

To be exact rather than flattering: Snipit is not an entirely offline app. Your footage is never sent out, and nothing about you is sent unless you allow tracking.

7. What is stored on your device

All of it lives on your device. Deleting the app removes all of it. Settings also offers a Reset App Data action that clears everything without deleting the app.

8. Snipit Pro and payments

Snipit Pro is an optional paid upgrade handled entirely by Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment; we never see your card details, your billing address, or your Apple Account. Snipit only asks the system whether a valid purchase exists on the device and unlocks the Pro features if it does. Restoring a purchase asks Apple the same question again.

Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

9. Third parties

Snipit includes one third-party software development kit: TikTok's Business SDK, used only for ad measurement and only if you allow tracking (section 6). There is no other analytics provider, crash reporter, attribution service, or advertising network, and Snipit shows no ads. Apple delivers the app and processes optional purchases.

10. Children's privacy

Snipit is rated for ages 4 and up and is safe for all ages, but it is designed for people editing their own gameplay recordings. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ad measurement runs only when tracking is allowed, and iOS blocks the tracking prompt for child accounts managed through Family Sharing, so the TikTok SDK does not start on those devices.

11. Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR in Europe and the CCPA in California give you rights to access, correct, export, and delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none ourselves. There is no account to close, no profile to export, and no record to delete on our side. Data the TikTok SDK sent with your permission is held by TikTok; you can stop it at any time by turning tracking off for Snipit, and you can exercise your rights over it with TikTok directly.

The data on your device is yours: you can view your saved layouts in the app, export them as files, and delete any of it at any time.

12. Changes to this policy

If Snipit ever changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes. Version 1.0.2 added TikTok ad measurement, and as promised it runs only after you consent through Apple's tracking prompt.
